"I interviewed Tanner Landry, the owner of Timeless Care Homes, a residential care facility that I volunteer at weekly. I am a big fan of his, his family, and the care that they provide residents in their care home. We ended up speaking for several hours and he had lots of thoughts and insights for me! We covered all of the questions and then some, here are some of the highlights! The first one is VALUE - He defines value as giving the families of the residents the rest and assurance for their loved ones that they so badly need and deserve!
Tanner said that he thinks creating an environment that focuses on giving quality care for their residents is achieved in many ways. First, they only have 10 residents to ensure quality care. This means that there only 3-4 residents per caregiver. This is unheard of in larger nursing care facilities! He also wants, and has created, a 5 star experience for the residents and their families. This means that they are served home cooked meals and snacks and that they eat every meal at a large, specially made table and defined as a “family”. Making memories for the families as well as the residents is a key quality for a successful care home, in his opinion. For him, the values that stands out to him is always kindness and customer service! Also, someone really giving love and attention to a resident that wasn’t specifically asked of them. One example was a caregiver giving foot massages to the residents one recent afternoon. These things seem small, but make a world of difference to the overall experience.
Tanner believes that I bring peace and comfort to the residents and the staff. I have tried to start recognizing them more and showing love in small ways. Lastly, Tanner has communicated his value by "leading with love". His father had nursing care in larger facilities in his late 50’s and had substandard care. This lead him to share his story with leaders in the industry regarding this poor standard of care due to staffing shortages, which has resonated with many and has been very impactful.

Regarding my own journey and perspective, I share a lot of the same values and thoughts as Tanner. I also believe that everyone has the right to be cared for in a top notch and respectful way. I like to take care of people when they visit my home or in my daily life. Things like bringing flowers, keeping the space nice and comfortable and attending to their needs, whatever they may be. Tanner clearly does this for his residents and trains his staff to do the same. I think I try to exhibit most of the qualities that Tanner does, the one thing I need to work on is bonding more and including the families in my activities. I will make that my priority in the future.
I strive to show love, respect and gratitude while engaging with clients. Helping clients make positive lasting memories with their cherished loved ones."
